The RSTA are saddened to hear of the recent death of Clive Mitchell, who led our Training and Assessment Centre from 2010 until 2017.

Howard Robinson, Chair and former CEO of the RSTA said,

“This is shocking news. I appointed Clive in 2010. He came from Construction Skills and set up the RSTA Assessment Centre.

Clive built up the Centre at a time when the RSTA was consolidating its new status following the merger of the Road Surface Dressing Association, Slurry Surfacing Contractors Association and the High Friction Surfacing Association. The Centre’s growth helped to underpin the Association’s finances as we worked to expand our range of activities.”

He left the RSTA to join Wilson & Scott in 2017.

Nigel Haycock, the current Head of Training and Assessment at the RSTA said “Clive was the person that set up the Assessment Centre and kept it running to a very high standard.

I only met Clive a couple of times, but he was always willing to assist and give me advice for my new position at the RSTA.

All the members and assessors I meet in my role speak very highly of him.”

Our heartfelt condolences are with Clive’s family at this difficult time.
