This British Standard gives requirements for performance and control procedures for high friction surfacing (HFS) products containing calcined bauxite aggregate for the surface treatment of roads and other trafficked areas.It applies to both hot applied and cold applied HFS products – is now out for public consultation until 7th February 2021.
Commenting on the proposed standard, Paul Boss, Chief Executive of the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA), said: “Industry experts from member companies of the RSTA and other stakeholders were involved in the development and drafting of BS 8870 High Friction Surfacing – Specification.”
