Dave Stannard – RSTA Chairman 2019/20
Dave Stannard from Colas was elected Chairman at the 2019 AGM held at the Belfry, Sutton Coldfield.
Mike Harper – Chief Executive and Director
BSc(Hons), DipM, FCIM, MIAT, MBA
Mike was appointed Chief Executive and Director for the RSTA in January 2019. Previously he worked closely with the RSTA for 8 years in a member company in various capacities as RSTA Chairman, RSTA Director and chairman or participant in numerous committees and technical groups. Mike has been in materials within the highways industry since joining Tarmac in 1989. Mike joined the RSTA following 18 years at materials specialists GCP Applied Technologies (formerly Stirling Lloyd) where he was Business Development Director (Global) and headed their highways activities. A regular speaker at conferences both in the UK and around the world, Mike has a passion for helping clients achieve the very best from highways maintenance materials and for championing innovation in the highways sector.
Dave Rigby – Chief Technical Officer
Dave was appointed Chief Technical Officer in July 2019. Working closely with the RSTA since 1992, Dave was also Chairman of the Surface Dressing Committee for 8 years leading up to 2014. Dave worked for Lancashire County Council for 38 years, latterly as Head of Service for Surfacing & Surface Treatments. Dave has a general wide-ranging knowledge of all surface treatments, and as a very client orientated person, Dave is always willing to help people chose the right treatment at the right time.
Nigel Haycock – Head of Assessment & Training
Nigel Haycock was appointed as Head of Training & Assessment for RSTA in 2017. Nigel is based in Staffordshire having previously worked for Kier. He is a fully qualified and highly experienced trainer/assessor and also IQA. Nigel previously worked for Telford College teaching and assessing apprentices in Construction Operations and Highways Maintenance and prior to that worked for Stafford Borough Council for a number of years as a supervisor dealing with labour, materials, plant and contracts.
Sarah Knott – Administration Manager
Sarah returned to the team in April 2019. Working in finance and administration in the manufacturing, steel industry, retail, and education sectors, she lead the office team at a charity for alternative education before to joining the RSTA team. Based in the office with Katie, Sarah brings a strong skill set, always striving to put the customer first.
Katie Green – Administration Assistant
Appointed as administration assistant in September 2019 working in the office alongside Sarah. Bringing her strong skills in customer care to the team, Katie worked most recently as a receptionist at Rybrook BMW based in Wolverhampton.
