RSTA Training

Specialist Up-skilling Programme Update

This quarter has been an extremely busy period in the RSTA training calendar, and none more so than the Specialist Up-skilling Programmes run in conjunction with the National Specialist Team at CITB, who have made access to CITB Grant possible with these programmes that actually pay the employer back more than the course fees, helping to offset the cost of wages and downtime that are associated with training the workforce.

5 member companies have undertaken these training programmes and together have put in excess of 120 operatives on these schemes which have been for Surface Dressing; Slurry Microsurfacing Hand Applied; Slurry Microsurfacing Machine Applied; and Velocity Patching.

All of the operatives have completed their “classroom” sessions, covering all mandatory training such as first aid, manual handling, banksman, 12D T1, & Fire Awareness as well as receiving the latest technical information specific to their trade, and are all on target to complete their Level 2 NVQ assessments this season, ensuring the companies involved have a fully qualified and “up-to date” workforce that will all have their appropriate CSCS cards and certification.

Consultation has begun with the National Specialist Team on development of a Specialist Upskilling Programme for Supervisory Staff that will have a Level 3 NVQ as the outcome. More programmes can be developed for any of the RSTA Surface Treatments, so for further details on this, and the range of current level NVQ Level 2 programmes please contact Clive or Lydia at the RSTA office.

Don’t miss out on your chance to get your workforce “trained for free”.

RSTA is recognised by CITB
